Petra Kalive
Petra is Associate Director at Melbourne Theatre Company where she has directed Laurinda, The Lifespan of a Fact, Touching the Void, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes (Green Room nominated Best Director), Hungry Ghosts, Melbourne Talam (Green Room Nominated Best Director). She trained at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and has since been working professionally as an actor, director, dramaturg and facilitator. She has also worked for Belvoir St, Sydney Theatre Company, Arena, Complete Works, St Martins Youth Arts Centre, Monash University Centre for Theatre and Performance, La Trobe Performing Arts Department, and the Victorian College of the Arts. Other directorial credits include: Taxithi (fortyfivedownstairs – Green Room Nominated best director), Oil Babies (shortlisted for the NSW Premier Literary Awards) and My Brilliant Career, a musical adaptation of the Miles Franklin novel. Petra was Artistic Director of Union House Theatre from 2014-2019.
