Glenn Perry
Glenn Perry is a librettist and playwright. He has written libretti for Chambermade Opera, including two operas composed by the Chinese-Australian composer Julian Yu: Fresh Ghosts (1997), Theatre Works, Melbourne; and The Possessed (2003), Chapel Off Chapel (both productions directed by Douglas Horton). He received a 2007 RE Ross Trust Playwrights' Script Development Award to write the libretto for Helen Garner’s The Children’s Bach, composed by Andrew Shultz and directed by Chris Kohn for Chambermade Opera at Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne (2008). The Children’s Bach was also performed as a concert presentation at the Canberra International Music Festival (2019), directed by Roland Peelman. Glenn has also adapted novels for theatre and radio including Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita (The Five Dollar Theatre Company), Morris Gleitzman’s Second Childhood (Melbourne Theatre Company/Hothouse) and Roulettenberg, a radio-play adapted from Dostoyevsky’s The Gambler (ABC Radio National).
