Explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander approaches to justice, the law and the Koori Court in this event recorded live at the Wheeler Centre, in honour of the 2023 NAIDOC Week theme ‘For Our Elders’.
First established more than 20 years ago, the Koori Court is a court for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders developed to reflect cultural issues, promote community participation and enable culturally-informed decision making. For NAIDOC Week 2023, Koori Court Elder Uncle Walter Harrison, Supervising Magistrate of Koori Justice Rose Falla, County Koori Court Manager Terrie Stewart, along with host and Deputy CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service Amanda Dunstall, appeared at the Wheeler Centre for a conversation exploring the history and principles of the Koori Court.
