Making Old Classics Look New: Penguin Cover Design Competitions

It’s always fun to see old classics imagined anew for the 21st-century reader.

Two UK design prizes, both hosted by Penguin, have just announced their shortlists - and the results are well worth a browse.

This year’s Puffin Design Award set students the task of coming up with a new cover for one of the best-loved children’s books, The Wind in the Willows.

This year’s Penguin Adult Prize for design invited students to come up with a new cover for Raymond Chandler’s 1939 classic The Big Sleep.
