Wheeler Centre resident organisation the Melbourne Writers' Festival released its program for the next festival today.
Program highlights include Jonathan Franzen speaking on autobiographical fiction on 25 August and, the following night, a live, ‘sonic-scape’ performance of Shaun Tan’s The Arrival by the multi-instrumental Orkestra of the Underground.
Events are organised into themes that include big ideas, digital journalism and graphic novels and illustration.
The fiction program is as enticing as it is vast: we like the look of the conversation between Argentinian master stylist Cesar Aira and local Chris Andrews, one of the foremost Spanish-English translators in the world. If only we could speak Spanish.
The festival runs from Thursday, 25 August to Sunday, 4 September.
