Scribe Publications is the latest publisher to jump into the e-book market. With titles including Dark Roots by Cate Kennedy and Julian Burnside’s Wordwatching, they’ve partnered with eBooks.com, an international portal with large sales in the US.
Scribe publisher Henry Rosenbloom reflected, “While there’s no clear way forward, we’ve come to the conclusion that we know as little about it as anyone else does, so we might as well learn by doing.” Scribe joins publishers such as Pan Macmillan and Spinifex Press who also offer their lists online.
Scribe’s announcement may be overshadowed by the tomorrow’s release of the Kobo, an e-reader sold through Borders that comes with an e-book store offering titles at half the price of their physical books.
