Crikey blogger Culture Mulcher praised Lloyd Jones' Hand Me Down World that blends his role as reader and designer. As Mulcher says he’s “designed six of Jones’ books, including the wonderful Commonwealth Writers’ Prize-winning, Booker-runner-up, Mister Pip, and also — don’t say it! going to say it — one of my all-time contemporary favourites, The Book of Fame.”
While Mr Mulcher is anything but a distanced reviewer, he was so inspired by the manuscript that he wrote the back cover blurb, because “that’s how much it got to me.”
Mr Mulcher also points out that the UK publisher released several copies as hand me down books - books that they released into the wild and encouraged people who found them to write reviews. Many of the reviews agree with Mr Mulcher’s praise.
