No real change for climate change

As the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference gets underway, the international media is decidedly downbeat in its expectations for the outcome.

The Washington Post argues today, in two separate articles, that not only will Copenhagen achieve little more than the creation of a big carbon footprint of its own as 20,000 politicians, media and advocates fly in, it also makes the case that the time has come to start enacting green policies into law, rather than expecting change to result from personal or public goodwill measures.

Meanwhile, the Conference itself is in disarray after a draft agreement, giving more power to rich nations and sidelining the developing world and the UN, was leaked to the Guardian newspaper.
