Alexis Wright and Kate Grenville are two of Australia's most celebrated authors. Both are recipients of the Creative Australia (Australia Council) Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature.
Kate Grenville is the author of 18 books, many of which, like The Secret River, are considered Australian classics. Kate is the first Australian to be twice-shortlisted for the International Women's Prize for Fiction, in 2024 for Restless Dolly Maunder and 2001 for The Idea of Perfection, which won the prize that year.
Alexis's Praiseworthy, winner of The Stella Prize in 2024 and longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award 2024, is described by The New York Times as "the most ambitious and accomplished Australian novel of this century". Alexis's other ground-breaking works include Carpentaria, The Swan Book and Tracker.
In this special gala closing event you’re invited to experience 90 mins of inspiring conversation with four of Australia’s leading writers and thinkers: We’ll start with a conversation between Kate Grenville and Clare Wright. Then it’s time for this year’s Stella Prize winner Alexis Wright to talk to Stella 2024 judge Yves Rees.
Presented by Bendigo Writers Festival and La Trobe University. Supported by The Wheeler Centre and The Stella Prize.
