Justice, Elders and Culture in the Koori Court

Explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander approaches to justice and the law and the Koori Court at this event honouring the NAIDOC Week theme ‘For Our Elders’.

First established more than 20 years ago, the Koori Court is a court for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders developed to reflect cultural issues, promote community participation and enable culturally-informed decision making. For NAIDOC Week 2023, join Koori Court Elder Uncle Walter Harrison, Supervising Magistrate of Koori Justice Rose Falla, County Koori Court Manager Terrie Stewart, along with host and CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service Nerita Waight, for a conversation exploring the history and principles of the Koori Court, and offering insight into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander approaches to justice and the law. Please note that this event will now be hosted by the Deputy CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, Amanda Dunstall.

Presented in partnership with Liberty Victoria. Supported by the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.
