Hidden Histories: Geraldine Brooks

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks, poet Flora Chol and musician Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 uncover untold stories and perspectives in the winter instalment of our Salon Series.

In the winter instalment of our Salon Series, we’re digging deep into the archives and uncovering untold stories and perspectives. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks will discuss her first book in seven years, Horse, with host Ramona Koval. Inspired by a true story, the novel connects three narratives surrounding a famous US thoroughbred racehorse to explore legacies of racism, horse-racing and art. The event will open with a poetry reading by Flora Chol, whose work deconstructs unnatural systems and serves to place the human voice in a state of unapologetic truth and power. To close the evening, enjoy a transporting musical performance by Mindy Meng Wang 王萌, whose unique compositions explore the fertile space between Chinese classical and Western contemporary music. Enjoy a glass of complimentary De Bortoli wine from the Yarra Valley on arrival and join us for an evening of archival artistry, as we drag what’s out of sight into the light.
