What constitutes a trend? Can they be predicted and quantified? And how do trends in the broader culture influence the creation of new artworks? In this conversation, artists Jordan Prosser and David Finnigan – creators of the Melbourne Knowledge Week event, CrimeForce: LoveTeam – will discuss themes of futurism in art and beyond. With cultural strategist and insights specialist Stephanie Winkler, they’ll discuss how predictions and insights from wider culture can be conveyed through artistic practice.

Prosser and Finnigan’s interactive performance work explores the future of pop music, DNA databases and genetic surveillance. Winkler uses stories and data from her surroundings to uncover unique insights about trends in media and culture. Together, they’ll interrogate the intersections of trend forecasting, scenario building and artistic practice

Presented in partnership with Melbourne Knowledge Week
