Get directionsForget bitcoin: the currency of the future is the hot take. Like the overalled gold prospector of the past, the opinion columnist of today mines content as if from thin air – emerging with that most coveted nugget: clickbait.
As the ultimate experiment in dragging pageviews offline, Nailed It! assembles Australia’s finest comedians, journalists and everything in between – and copy/pastes them onto a pulpit from which to bluster, bully and BS. Forget sincerity or nuance; how will each speaker suppress their most deeply held convictions, and give their all to serving up the most shareable content?
Host James Colley introduces Cal Wilson, Tom Walker, Lucinda Price and Sinead Stubbins as they give voice to their most unexpected thought bubbles – all with the steady compass of a columnist ten minutes shy of deadline. Don’t read the comments.
Presented in partnership with The Toff in Town.
Cal Wilson came across the Tasman in 2003 and has gone on to become one of our most popular comedians, a perennial favourite on television shows such as Have You Been Paying Attention?, Spicks and Specks, Good News Week and Thank God You’re Here. Her stand up shows are as engaging as they are hilarious, often bringing the audience’s stories to life alongside her own.
Cal earned herself a seat in one of Australia’s most sought after writers rooms at the ABC for The Weekly with Charlie Pickering where she returned for its first two seasons until she landed one of her dream jobs as an ensemble cast member in Whose Line Is It Anyway? Australia alongside some of the country’s brightest improvisers.
In 2017, Cal returned to the stage with Things I’ve Never Said which drew sold out crowds to comedy festivals around Australia, appeared on the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala and returned as live host for smash hit story telling show The Moth and their regular monthly shows.
Cal’s brand new live show Hindsight will be touring Australia in 2018.
Tom Walker is a performer, writer, improviser and clown.
In 2016, Tom took out the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Best Newcomer Award with his show Beep Boop, as well as Director’s Choice for Zanzoop as part of Feeble Minds. Both shows went on to tour nationally across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, and then further to Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Soho Theatre in London.
His follow up show in 2017, the inadvisably named Bee Boo also toured Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Edinburgh, and earned Tom a Barry nomination for Best Show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Most recently Bee Boo has been recorded as part of ABC2’s Comedy Next Gen, which will air later in 2017.
Tom was as a main ensemble member of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Australia for Foxtel’s The Comedy Channel, which also aired to audiences on Network Ten.
Tom’s passion for improv comedy began in high school, winning the Sydney School Theatresports Cup in 2007 – he went on to win the Sydney University Theatresports Cup three times. As half of improv duo MotherFather, Tom won the 2011 Cranston Cup (NSW Theatresports Championship), the 2011 National Theatresports Championship and was a Sydney Comedy Festival FRESH! Pick. Tom trained at the prestigious École Philippe Gaulier, sharpening up his skills across all areas of his performing life during the two years of training, graduating in 2015.
