Featuring
Emma Marie Jones
Emma Marie Jones is a Melbourne-based writer, 2015 Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow and 2016 Felix Meyer Scholar. She is the author of Something To Be Tiptoed Around, a work shortlisted for the Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers in 2015 and due for release by Grattan Street Press in 2018. Emma’s work can be found in journals The Lifted Brow, Meanjin, Seizure and others. She is currently working on her first novel.
Emma has studied Creative Writing at Adelaide University and Melbourne University in Australia, and Oxford University in England. She is a previous editor of On Dit Magazine and previous Sex Editor at SPOOK Magazine.
Odette Kelada
Odette Kelada is a Lecturer in Creative Writing in the School of Culture and Communication. She has a PhD in literature researching the lives of Australian women writers.
Her writing focuses on marginalised voices, gender and racial literacy, and has appeared in numerous publications including the Australian Cultural History Journal, Outskirts, Postcolonial Studies and the Journal of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature. Her novel, Drawing Sybylla, won the Dorothy Hewett Award for an Unpublished Manuscript in 2017.
Sumudu Samarawickrama
Sumudu Samarawickrama is from Werribee. Her work has appeared in Boston Review, Overland, Meanjin and the Lifted Brow. She co-produced Sidekicked 2017 Melbourne Fringe Category Award Winner 'Best Words and Ideas'. She was a Witness Performance New Critic in 2018. She wants to use art to powerfully challenge the status quo of the structures that underpin our society. As part of FCAC’s West Writer's Group, she is interested in how anger can be a tool towards community. She is on a journey to decolonise her soul.
Her first chapbook, Utter the Thing, is published by Vagabond Press as part of its deciBels 3 project.
She is currently writing a collection of surrealistic sci-fi, and trying to write a play.
Marjon Mossammaparast
Marjon Mossammaparast is an Iranian-born poet from Melbourne. She has lived and worked in Italy, China and Macau.
Marjon is a practising English teacher, and has been involved in educational endeavours across the state and at tertiary level. Marjon’s poetry has appeared in a wide range of Australian literary publications, including Best Australian Poems, the Weekend Australian, Canberra Times, Southerly, Mascara, Quadrant, Eureka Street and the Australian Poetry Journal, as well as international publications Antipodes (US) and The Moth Magazine (UK). Her first collection of poetry, That Sight, is being published this year through Cordite Books.
