Following the announcement of the 2015 Stella Prize, the Wheeler Centre will present a special event at the Clunes Booktown Festival.
Helen Trinca was the winner of the 2014 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction for her book Madeleine: A Life of Madeleine St John, in which she explores the troubled life of the first Australian woman to be shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
Helen will speak with 2015 Stella Prize winner Emily Bitto (The Strays) about books, writing, prizes — and life after the awards ceremony is over.

Helen Trinca
Helen Trinca is the author of Madeleine: A Life of Madeleine St John, which explored the troubled life of the first Australian woman to be shortlisted for the Booker Prize. It won the 2013 Prime Minister's Literary Award for Non-Fiction. She has co-written two previous books: Waterfront: The Battle that Changed Australia and Better than Sex: How a Whole Generation Got Hooked on Work.
She has held senior reporting and editing roles in Australian journalism, including a stint as the Australian’s London correspondent. Currently, Helen is managing editor of the Australian and editor of The Deal magazine.
Emily Bitto
Emily Bitto is a Melbourne-based writer of fiction, poetry and non-fiction. She has a Masters in Literary Studies and a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne. Her debut novel, The Strays, was the winner of the 2015 Stella Prize ...
