Poet, historian and journalist Barry Hill has been a mainstay of Australian writing for three decades. Perhaps best known for his much-awarded biography of anthropologist T.G.H Strehlow, Broken Song, he has written novels, poetry, essays, radio criticism and libretti.

Peacemongers is Hill’s latest book, and his first major work of prose since 2002. Written across a decade’s explorations through India and Japan, it reflects themes of travel, history, war and peace — alongside the shadow of Indian intellectual Rabindranath Tagore, and Hill’s own search for meaning.

Barry Hill will be joined in conversation by literary critic and academic Justin Clemens.
