In 2012, Anna Funder won the Miles Franklin award for her debut novel, All That I Am, adding Australia’s most prestigious literary prize to an already appallingly long list of honours and achievements. The list includes a doctorate in Creative Arts from the University of Technology Sydney, a Rockefeller Foundation fellowship, the 2004 Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction for her first book, Stasiland, a former career as a human rights lawyer, and fluency in French and German. Anna’s essays and articles have been featured in many magazines and publications including Best Australian Essays, The Monthly and Guardian.

For her latest project, Funder has ventured into yet another narrative form – the novella. In The Girl with the Dogs, she explores the enduring consequences that result from brief moments of choice.

An award-winning writer who defies pigeon-holing, Anna Funder will examine the challenges and freedoms of writing across genres and forms. In conversation with Jason Steger.
