The world of fashion is arguably the last bastion of an era that predates technological dominance, but all that is about to change. The catwalks of 2014 and beyond will be heavily influenced by gaming, technology and interactivity, to a level not seen before.
Playwear is an app developed by the Tiny Machine Collective for the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Cultural Program 2014. This not only grants festivalgoers the ability to access exclusive content such as interviews with designers, but also provides them with the opportunity to create their very own ‘glitched’ fabric design.
The Wheeler Centre is bringing together the Tiny Machine Collective and experts from the fashion design and technology sectors to discuss this brave new world. On the runway will be interactive fashion, wearable technologies and how games have influenced fabric design.
