Since his days with Blood, Sweat & Tears in the mid-70s, followed by stints with Billy Cobham, Miles Davis and Michael Brecker in the 80s, Mike Stern has used his jazz roots as a base to explore rock, swing, funk, blues and world music.
With a solo career spanning nearly 30 years, the six-time Grammy nominee and recipient of Guitar Player magazine’s Certified Legend Award for 2012 is not afraid to bring numerous styles and ideas – however diverse – into the same place just to see what happens, moving between straight-ahead jazz and rock fusion with consummate skill.
