Whether it’s meeting Australian literature’s newest wunderkind or hearing a known quantity strike a bold new path, Debut Mondays is your chance to be part of the literary avant-garde.
Each month in the brand new Moat Bar and Café at the Wheeler Centre, we’ll introduce you to a special selection of new voices from across Victoria and beyond, including a special guest in every session from Voiceworks magazine.

Denise Leith
Denise is the author of two non-fiction books, The Politics of Power and Bearing Witness. Her debut novel is, What Remains.
Denise has a Ph.D. in International Relations, which she teaches part-time at university. She writes articles (political, book reviews, travel) for newspapers, journals, serials and online websites and is currently working on her second novel and another non-fiction title.
Michael Sala
Michael Sala is a Newcastle-based writer and the author of the novel The Last Thread.
Michael was born in the Netherlands in 1975 and moved to Australia in the 1980s. He now lives in Newcastle with his wife and children. Michael was shortlisted for the prestigious Australian/Vogel Literary Award and three of his stories have appeared in The Best Australian Stories. His stories have also appeared in Kill Your Darlings and HEAT.
Eric Knight
Eric Knight was born in 1983. A former Rhodes scholar, he has worked as an economics consultant to the OECD, the UN and the World Bank.
He has written for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Drum, The Spectator and The Monthly. A research associate of the ANU Centre for Climate Economics and Policy, he works for Boston Consulting Group.
Reframe: How to Solve the World’s Trickiest Problems (Black Inc.) is his first book.
