“Traditional, cultural practices that assert male authority will always disadvantage women. So why do we kow-tow to them?” Virginia Haussegger states in the Intelligence Squared: Feminism Has Failed. She argues for the affirmative in this debate, pointing out that despite the progress feminism has made she believes there is a “global war against women” fought on the “battleground of a woman’s body”. While feminism may have helped women in developed nations, many of the world’s women remain trapped in patriarchy.

you are a disgrace!!! you have done precisley what you accuse others of doing...spewed your petty outrage, your beef with feministS (rather than feminism); your desire for the limelight on the battleground of women's bodies....in your desire to speak you have demonstrated your refusal to listen (particularly to the women about whom you speak)...have a listen to yourself - your trumped outrage, is not about the practices and processes of violence against women...if that was your real beef you would have talked about violence against women everywhere and considered what and how feminists have and continue to work everywhere to support the victims and end the violence - you would read about what feminists say works, what fails, how they struggle with the real challenges of working against traditional practices, and how they keep learning...too much for your glib approach...you're becoming boring and predictable....and increasingly not talking about or with women at all, but waging your battles through them and their bodies.....pathetic and disgraceful. I intend to use this video in the classroom...how NOT to make an argument; how to pretend to argue; worst of all - how to pretend you care!

Thank you Virginia. It needed saying, and you have said it superbly.
