If the internet was cut off tomorrow, would you be happy? Dave Graney would be.
Appearing onstage at Lunchbox/Soapbox, and in his characteristically meandering style, the flamboyant stalwart of Melbourne’s music scene ponders the question: do social networks and technology inspire us to think of the future?
Reflecting on technology’s ability to send people “spiralling inwards”, Graney observes the past, present and future through the temporal perspective of each, receives a tap on the shoulder from the unknown (via Facebook), and shares some networked wisdom from a certain man from the future.

What's with the chewing gum Mr Graney ?
Also, I don't think Facebook and internet is turning people inwards. It is just a tool for following your interests and seeing what is going on. On the contrary, i have only used facebook for the past 9 months but by using the "like" button have been able to keep informed about all my creative interests in the city i'm living in, particularly in theatre. Otherwise i would have missed out on a hell of a lot, not to mention not having heard of the Wheeler Centre and being able to watch these great and interesting video discussions. I would not have been able to without it. It can only be good for people especially in rural OZ where distances are so great.
