Comedy is relative. One person’s hilarity is another’s wounding words. But surely there’s a place for material that’s on the nose.

In this instalment of Lunchbox/Soapbox, Ben Pobjie argues that shock and offence play an important role in comedy often misinterpreted as mockery of serious topics.

Pobjie suggests that while we have every right to be offended, we don’t have the right to “not be offended”.
