Though Julia Gillard removes the knife from former PM Kevin Rudd as she takes power, there have been many backers whispering in her ear.
ABC Unleashed highlights Rudd’s failure to build a factional power base and that the Labor Right have risen to support Rudd. The Australian Worker’s Union has publicly waved their flag for Gillard and ACT Senator Kate Lundy backed her on Twitter: “I will be voting for Julia Gillard in the l'ship ballot. She will be an inspiring PM!”
But the media has slowly been equally contributed. When David Marr discussed his Kevin Rudd essay he showed great respect for Rudd and his “love of martyrs” including Whitlam but ultimately felt disappointed. Interviewer Robert Manne confessed himself as a Ruddite, but said he’d changed his mind with recent policy backflips.
From the Opposition side, Malcolm Turnbull used his appearance at the Deakins Lecture to eviscerate Rudd on the ETS. “What do you stand for Kevin?” Turnbull .
Gillard can expect to meet similar criticism soon as Australia lurches towards this year’s election. Will she be haunted like Lady Macbeth by the blood she has shed?

This is an historic moment for Australians. Throughout her career (pre and in politics) Julia Gillard has demonstrated real leadership qualities. She will be a competent and compassionate Prime Minister, and will be more than a match for Tony Abbott at the next election.

There's no way Julia can get the stains out. She may be hiding behind the likes of Bill Shorten but she put the crunch into the numbers herself. And flanking herself with Wayne Swan is a mistake. Asutralians will see a smiling assassin every time his mug is on the telly.

Can't see that the Lady Macbeth reference is warranted. Would make more sense if Gillard had, for example, masterminded Wayne Swan putting the knife into Rudd. And the changeover does appear to have been pretty bloodless

I think Julia is a likely winner, especially against Tony Abbott. I suspect there are some in our community who won't like the idea of a female PM and Gillard specifically, but I know there are many out there who hate Abbott with a passion.

There is some speculation that Abbott may face a leadership struggle of his own in the future, especially with Turnbull sounding so charged at the Deakins recently.
It will be interesting to see if Gillard's novelty will bump the polls and how long that will last. Will there be a snap election to capitalise on it or will she want to show the electorate what kind of leader she can be?

J Gillard is the smiling assassin - everytime I see her on Tv I will think of how she knifed a Prime Minister who got them out of the wilderness out of 11 long years. The voters of Australia will send Labor a message that will send them right back to the wilderness.

She's toast at the next election along with Labor. Send traitors back to the wilderness. What she and her cohorts did is unethical. It is unprincipled. Totally reprehensible conduct. I no longer trust Labor to govern. I voted Labor last election. I intended to vote Labor at the next election. Not now and possibly not ever again will I vote Labor. My vote this election will go to Independents or Greens where they do not give their preferences to Labor.
We saw immediate negative effect in the absence of the Australian Prime Minister at the G20. This damaged our international standing.

Having the First Female Prime Minister in Australia for the first time in History, is History in itself for all us Australians. A change is needed and Definitely Julia Gillard is the next candidated to being the Prime MInsister in the next election.
She is strong, smart, loving, intelligent, beautiful, bright, very well intuned into politics. She is brave as anything and has the potential, strength, vigour, integrity, and compassion for us all Australians. Although she is female (gender is not really the problem but delivering the good policies for all Australian people is what she has in her hand). Julia with all my blessings Go Ahead, Stay Positive as you have always been and the road to Victory is on its way. God Bless our Prime MInister Julia Gillard.

Lets give women ago hey? Stop living like there needs to be a man for everything in life.
Tony Abbott will take centerlink away yeah theres going to be heaps more homeless people, theres going to be people that cant study because they need te money to live. theres going to be single mothers that cant afford to care for there children.

Tony Abbot is a public orientated, down to earth, honest bloke. He is experienced and I believe will always serve in the best interests of the public, Julia Gillard, I haven't got a big problem with her, but she simply isn't right for the job of Prime Minister.

Most definitely Julia Gillard has come of age by stepping out being herself and displaying strong political leadership with a credible approach backed up by strong ideas based on solid political decisions. She has also shown empathy towards Mr. Rudd where the opposition has sort to hit below the belt. Frankly, after a lot of media coverage its time to let her get on with the job and do what's right for the economy in Australia; we are all interdependent on each and every one. Dunno hw the heck she balances everything but she's doing a heck of a job now.

So Julia now admits the Government that lost their way had made mistakes.
Refering to the Pink Batts and The Education(rort) Revolution programmes which by the way she was part of.
Ms Gillard now is on the record stating "that she stands by those decisions and she would do the same again".
Surely, the majority of Australians will not vote for a leader who seems to be unable to learn from their costly mistakes.

For crying out loud, some of the comments here sound like you are still children.
The main thing that matters is not whether it is kevin rudd or Gilliard but the principles based on truth and deliverance is what is at question.
If you chop and choose parties well you are no better the bldy. lot of those political figureheads that constructively lie and decieve.
Do you want to be deceived or do you want a strong nation which supports world class facilities. I live in England for the past 4 years and I tell you something you will never wish Australia to become like this place. Your future is still set for you medicare,super schemes,pension rebates, a national network of services, schools, superb hospitals,universities, TAFE, when someones party namely the concervatives want to takes things away from ordinary people you have to question that. Not taking things away from Kevion Rudd, it is time for a change and I am interested in seeing how Gilliard performs under the New World Order(oops did I say that) that is what it feels like here and I do not want to see it happening in Australia

Will Julia Gillard’s re-elected Labor Party government fixed voters voices, pains and crying?
The historical hung parliament demonstrated deep in voter’s heart a fixed must to carry on in vision and action immediately:
Voters’ voices do not hear?
Voters’ pains do not ease?
Voters’ cries do not care?
1. Poverty will not be phase out if no fairer resources to share;
2. Illness will not be reducing if no preventive measurement in real action;
3. Agriculture will not be revitalize if urbanization continuing its path;
4. Housing affordability will not be reach for young generation if government continues cashing from young generation debt by eating out the whole cake of education export revenue without plough back;
5. Manufacture industry will shrink smaller and smaller if no new elements there to power up to survive;
6. Employability will not in the sustainable mode for so long as manufacture and agriculture not going to boost.

What democratic societies should learn lessen from Australia election 2010:
1. What productive action Gillard Labor government 5 billions to UN buys ousted PM Kevin Rudd’s face?
Voter’s pains did not link to high income Politicians and Bureaucracy.

Why believe coalition Supporting Local Communities?
It’s all about power and money most Politicians and parties wanted above all and after all election?

Will you also believe there were only 1-2 Politicians responding to this greatest “Healthy Las Vergas Broken Hill economy model”?
Why the most Politicians do fail their own test in support community health/economic development who with$1.65 million Tax payer’s money each annual spending for?

Why believe coalition economic plan works without revitalize agriculture and manufacture industries??
It’s all about power and money most Politicians and parties wanted above all and after all election?
Just listen how Barry O'Farrell convincing voters: "People are our asset. They are our greatest wealth and they should be given the opportunity to pursue their dreams?" On the issue of economic management, Mr O'Farrell was asked what he thought was the state's greatest source of wealth, given NSW lacked a resources industry.

When we look at what today’s shrinking industries, such of agriculture (34% of fruit and 19% of vegetables imported); manufacture (10.5% by 2005–6) destructed by John Howard’s coalition government.
Will you then still believe Mr Barry O'Farrell’s coalition opposition announced positive and practical policies which will help revitalize agriculture and manufacture industries for create more sustainable jobs, and innovative export products?
Remember, it’s not one person to construct or destruct the whole lots of industries, it’s the matter of whole political party/government?
Will you also believe there were only 1-2 Politicians responding to this greatest “Healthy Las Vergas Broken Hill economy model”?
Why the most Politicians do fail their own test in spend little brain work to revitalize agriculture and manufacture industries who with $1.65 million Tax payer’s money each annual spending for?

Why believe NSW coalition health plan works just by add a few dollars in hospital without innovative ideas?
It’s all about power and money most Politicians and parties wanted above all and after all election?
Just listen how Barry O'Farrell convincing voters: “The key to our program is giving medical professionals a bigger say in how health services are delivered in their area. These are the people who know what their patients need…so we will be listening to them”.
Where the Preventive Health program under coalition government’s 8 years health plan is proved that a political mouth show in which spent millions dollar only produced a book for sale, people who have to pay for reading, but not benefit taking.
Will you then still believe Mr Barry O'Farrell’s coalition opposition is committed to health reform (put some money in some hospital if you liked)? Then call it rebuild the hospital system through Better Hospitals and Healthcare program? The coalition put it up simply as a truly health reform that would fix NSW health problems?
Will you also believe there were only 1-2 Politicians responding to this greatest “Healthy Las Vergas Broken Hill economy model”?
Why the most Politicians do fail their own test in spend little brain work to come up some innovative idea that truly achieve the health reform materialized that benefits to all voters?
