Shaun Carney is a senior columnist on The Age and is the author of two books, including a biography of Peter Costello.
In 2003, he received a commendation from the Walkley awards judges for his column-writing.
He has been an associate editor of The Age since 1998 and was previously chief copy editor and contributing editor.
He began his career as a graduate cadet at the Melbourne afternoon paper, The Herald, in 1978 where he was a police reporter, Canberra correspondent, chief industrial reporter and chief of staff.
He joined The Age in 1986 and has been a political columnist since the early 90s.
