Dr Michael Cathcart is a historian, dramaturge and broadcaster, best known as the presenter of Books and Arts Daily on Radio National.
He is the author of Defending the National Tuckshop (1988), an abridgement of Manning Clark’s epic A History of Australia and an anthology of Australian speeches.
Michael’s latest book, The Water Dreamers (2009), is an award-winning history of water and silence in Australia. He has presented several history documentaries for ABC TV, most recently the series Australia on Trial.
