John Marsden’s books have sold more than four million copies around the world. He is the author of 30 novels including the highly acclaimed series Tomorrow, When the War Began and The Ellie Chronicles.
John Marsden was born in Victoria in 1950, at the age of nine he decided he wanted to become an author.
Before commencing his writing career, Marsden taught for nine years at Geelong Grammar School, and became Head of English at the school’s Timbertop campus. His interest in education never waned and in 1998 he bought the Tye Estate, 850 acres of natural bush on the northern edge of Melbourne, where he ran popular writers’ courses.
In recent years John has also been the principal of his own school, Candlebark, also on the Tye Estate.
