Geordie Williamson

Geordie Williamson is chief literary critic of The Australian and winner of the 2011 Pascall Prize for criticism.

Geordie has been chief literary critic at The Australian since 2008. He has written widely for newspapers and magazines in Australia and the UK, and speaks regularly about books on ABC radio. In 2011 he won the Pascall Prize for criticism, Australia’s only major national prize awarded for critical writing. Geordie studied English literature at the University of Sydney and University College, London. Over the years he has done everything from cataloguing rare books to labouring in a vineyard. He currently lives in the Blue Mountains, outside Sydney, with his family, eight chickens and an orphaned lamb.
