Gael Jennings

Gael Jennings is an award-winning science journalist and broadcaster.

Dr Gael Jennings is Executive Director of media consultancy Mediasmart, which specialises in executive media training, media management, public speaking, facilitation and hosting. She has most recently been Chief Executive Officer of Greatconnections, a not-for-profit organisation that recruits and matches professionals and executives to perform pro bono business consultancy work in the non-profit sector, and as Development Producer, ABC TV, to develop science, natural history, religious and ethical and indigenous films with the independent sector.

Gael has over 20 years experience as a publicly recognised and award-winning national science and medical TV and radio broadcaster, as reporter, presenter and Factual TV executive, including as the inaugural national science and medical reporter for ABC TV news, current affairs ( 7.30 Report) and features (Quantum, Catalyst), as host of the mid-morning and afternoon programs on 774 ABC Radio Melbourne and Victoria, and anchor of SBS TV’s weekly current affairs programme Insight. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Science from the University of Melbourne, and PhD in Immunology from The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, and is currently a strategic advisor to government, is on the Board of Museums Victoria (Chair Research and Collection Committee) and a member of the Ministerial Advisory Council for Science and Mathematics (Victoria).

Gael is a regular commentator on the Vizard show, MTR Radio, ABC2 TV News Breakfast, and occasional co-host of 774 ABC Radio’s Conversation Hour. She is the author of the award-winning children’s book Sick As…: Bloody Moments in the History of Medicine.
