Chloe Hooper

Chloe Hooper’s The Tall Man, has been published widely abroad to much success and is one of the most awarded books of 2009. The Tall Man has won the NSW Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction, QLD Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction, Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction, and the ABIA Non-Fiction winner among many others.

It’s a gripping account of the tragic story of Cameron Doomadgee’s death in the Palm Island police station and the subsequent trial of Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley. Chloe’s early articles on Palm Island, for the Monthly magazine, won a Walkley Award.

Her first novel A Child’s Book of True Crime was published in many languages. It was a New York Times Notable Book and short-listed for the Orange Prize for Fiction (UK). Chloe lives in Melbourne.
