Elliot Perlman

This event is now complete.

From the civil rights struggle in the United States to the Nazi crimes against humanity in Europe, there are more stories than people passing each other every day on the bustling streets of every crowded city. Only some survive to become history.

Eight years after his last novel, Seven Types of Ambiguity, Melbourne author Elliot Perlman returns with his latest book, The Street Sweeper. In just his fourth book, the acclaimed author and barrister, who burst onto the scene with Three Dollars, is once again displaying the depth and humanism that made France’s Lire magazine call him “one of the 50 most important writers in the world”. He discusses his new novel, the horrors of tackling 20th century history through fiction and his return to the City of Literature after some years away.

Elliot will be in conversation with Matthia Dempsey.
