David Mitchell

This event is now complete.

Acclaimed author David Mitchell is a writer’s writer. Bold, inventive, always surprising, he has quickly established a fanatical fan base and a reputation as a novelist to watch. Tackling and unpicking genre conventions, and always playing with perspective and style, Mitchell has been singled out for awards and plaudits throughout his career. His five books, Ghostwritten (1999), number9dream (2001), Cloud Atlas (2004), Black Swan Green (2006) and last year’s The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet – have been shortlisted for Man Booker and Commonwealth Writers’ prizes alike. The Wheeler Centre and Melbourne Writers’ Festival are proud to present his only Melbourne event at the Athenaeum Theatre. He’ll discuss his life and work, disconnected narratives and the Dutch in Japan with Melbourne Writers’ Festival programming manager Jenny Niven.
